What makes a good blog?

Hey everyone, I wanted to make this post about what I believe makes a good blog. Personally when I read I blog I tend to enjoy the ones that take a topic and break it down in lists with photos. I will make an example in this post.

TOP THINGS TO PREPARE FOR COLLEGE FOR NON-TRADITIONAL STUDENTS

1: Welcome the challenge

College is going to be tough. Not only because the classes are going to have instructors that want to give you all the information needed for the subject and help you to your goal but you also have you personal life to manage.

2: Understand your personal pace

Just remember that you are taking the first steps to improving yourself and it will be tough. Maybe start with a smaller load before jumping into a full credits. Your pace and credit load is going to be unique to your life situation so don't over do it. The road to success is paved with the many bricks of failure so don't give up!

3: Be kind to yourself

College can be some of the most rewarding learning and achievements in your life. However, it can also have some of the most stressful and intense moments you will ever experience. Remember that you are not alone in this and to be kind to yourself.

4: Ask for help

Doing something different than tradition can be tough. However, most colleges have amazing instructors who really care for their student's success. You can also ask for help from classmates and college faculty who might have tutor options available. You are not taking on this challenge alone and you can utilize all the resources your institute offers.

  1. This is a great example of an effective post! I agree that breaking a topic into steps/images is a useful technique. Your example post is organized and visually appealing and, of course, the images add to that! What do you think are other characteristics/elements of effective blog posts?

  2. Hey Robin,

I personally think some other characteristics of an effective blog post, would be to make it more personable to the readers. If you're going to talk about education, then your readers are probably going to be educators. It's important to know who you're writing to because if done well your message will be better received and understood.
